English

Introduction and Aims

This study is examining the effect of Q10 supplementation on some oxidative and anti-oxidative markers following one bout exhaustive aerobic exercise in sedentary men.

Materials and Methods

20 sedentary men divided in 2 homogenous groups in double blind approach: supplementation group (2.5mg/kg Q10) and placebo group. Subjects participated in Bruce test after 14 days Q10 supplementation. Blood samples were collected 4 times.

Results

The results show significance increase in total anti oxidative capacity following 14 days Q10 supplementation (P<0.05). Additionally, one bout exhaustive aerobic exercise increase MDA and decrease TAC significantly (P<0.05). However, the changing in MDA and TAC following exercise were higher in placebo group in comparison to Q10 supplementation group (P<0.05).

Conclusion

It is concluded that Q10 supplementation could prevent exercise induced oxidative stress following one bout aerobic exhaustive exercise by increasing the total anti oxidative capacity in sedentary men.
