Introduction: The logbook is implemented as an evaluation instrument for training nursing students in clinical settings. This study was conducted with the aim of quantitative-qualitative evaluation of the opinions of nursing professors and students on the use of a logbook in clinical evaluation. Methods: In this mixed method study, in the quantitative part, data were collected using Najafi et al.'s questionnaire (2016) with four domains, quality, necessity, consequences, and Logbook complement by 10 nursing instructors and 40 final year undergraduate nursing students. Descriptive statistics (frequency distribution, mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (independent t-test) under SPSS version 26 software were used for analysis. In the qualitative part, an interview was conducted with 15 students who had a different point of view on the logbook, using the contractual content analysis approach. Results: Findings: showed that 55% of the students and 100% of the professors considered the use of logbooks essential in practical units. By performing Mann-Whitney's non-parametric U test, it was determined that there is a significant difference between the views of nursing instructors and nursing students regarding the necessity of using the clinical skill book (sig=0.006). Conclusion: In the qualitative section, 3 main items and 4 Subitems were obtained. The main items included clinical factors (lack of educational role on behalf), structural factors (logbook’s nature), and educational factors (the role of supervising professors and neglecting students’ rights). Conclusion: According to the study, the faculty members had a more positive view of the logbook compared to the students. It is also necessary to review its content and implementation process.
