Abstract:
Background and aim: The health of nurses affects the quality of care provided to patients. Perceived organizational support affects nurses’ performance and efficiency. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between public health and the perceived organizational support of nurses at Al-Zahra Hospital in Isfahan in 2023.
Methods: This descriptive-analytical (cross-sectional) study was conducted on the nurses of Al-Zahra Hospital in Isfahan. The sample size was 250 people who were randomly selected. The evaluation of public health status was performed using Goldberg’s 28-question standard public health questionnaire, and the evaluation of perceived organizational support was performed using Eisenberger’s8-question perceived organizational support questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS.24 software with a significance level of 0.05.
Results: The average age of the nurses was 40.87 ± 8.38. The average score of nurses’ general health disorder was 30.67±10.19 and it was in the average range. The average perceived organizational support score of nurses was 25.40 ± 5.08 and it was low. Pearson's correlation coefficient showed that the perceived organizational support score was inversely and significantly related to the general health disorder score (P < 0.05).
Conclusion: In this study, a significant relationship was observed between increasing organizational support and decreasing public health disorders. It is very important to pay attention to these factors in managers and organizational planning and support of employees in order to reduce disruption in public health and improve efficiency and as a result increase the benefits of the organization.
