Abstract
Introduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate the design of a cognitive therapy based on mindfulness and its effectiveness on eating behavior and emotion regulation skills in overweight women.

Methods: This research followed a quasi-experimental design. The statistical population of this research included all women aged 20 to 40 who were referred to Shurideh Clinic in Mashhad in 1400-1401. The sample size was based on Cochran's formula and considering that the type of intervention method was group therapy. Sampling was conducted using a convenience method, 30 people were selected as a statistical sample based on the scores of the eating behavior questionnaire (Fan Strein, Frejters, Burgers, Difar, 2001) and the emotion regulation skill questionnaire (Gross and John, 2003) in the pre-test and the inclusion and exclusion criteria. These 30 people were randomly selected into 2 experimental and control groups of 15 people, the experimental group received diet therapy and cognitive therapy based on mindfulness, and the control group received only diet therapy. In order to investigate the hypotheses of the research, an analysis of variance with repeated measurements was used.

Results: The results of the research showed that cognitive therapy based on mindfulness significantly led to the improvement of eating behavior (exciting, external, and inhibition) and improvement of emotion regulation skills (reevaluation and suppression) in overweight women in the stage So it is tested and followed up (P<0.01).

Conclusion: Therefore, cognitive therapy based on mindfulness is a suitable approach to improve eating behavior and emotion regulation skills in overweight women.
