The effect of moderate-intensity interval training and vitamin D intake on C-reactive protein and interleukin 10 following myocardial infarction induction

Introduction

Myocardial infarction is one of the leading causes of death worldwide due to heart disease. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of moderate-intensity interval training and vitamin D intake on C-reactive protein and interleukin 10 following myocardial infarction induction.

Methods and materials

The study samples were 56 male Wistar rats, randomly divided into 7 equal groups (8 rats), which were supplemented and trained for 8 weeks. CRP and interleukin 10 levels were measured. One-way ANOVA with Tukey's post hoc test was used for statistical analysis.



Results

The results showed that both interventions, individually and in combination, significantly increased the IL10 ratio compared to the stroke group (p≤0.05). Both interventions, individually and in combination, significantly decreased the CRP ratio compared to the MI group (p≤0.05). Also, the combination of exercise and supplementation caused a greater decrease in the CRP ratio and a greater increase in interleukin 10 compared to the supplementation groups (p≤0.05) and exercise alone (p≤0.05).



Conclusion

Overall, the results of this study show that the combination of the two interventions has a synergistic effect, and it seems that simultaneous consumption of vitamin D and moderate-intensity interval training is beneficial and effective in reducing inflammation in patients with infarction.
