Abstract
Introduction

Silver nanoparticles are one of the most common nanoparticles used in biomedical applications. They are made by two major chemical and biological methods. The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes of brain tissue due to toxic and non-toxic doses of biological silver nanoparticles in neonatal rats.

Materials and Methods

This research was an experimental study and 18 male and female Wistar rats were selected and finally divided into 3 groups of 6. One control group and the rest were divided into two equal groups based on toxic and non-toxic nanoparticles. After the pregnancy, the injection was performed in the last two weeks of pregnancy. Two weeks after parturition, histological changes were observed under a microscope in the rats neonates' brains.

Results

Histological specimens of the group receiving the toxic dose of biological silver nanoparticles show no significant change compared to the control group. Neurons and neuroglial cells had normal features, including clear nuclei and cytoplasm. Their cellular adhesions were also visible around them and no specific changes in neuropilia were observed.

Conclusion

The use of biological silver nanoparticles in non-toxic and toxic doses will not have a detrimental effect on brain and tissue and cell morphological indicators.
