Introduction: Behavioral, social, and attachment health of individuals are related to the parenting style of parents during childhood and have been tested in numerous studies. Therefore, the present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of Rudikord parenting education based on choice theory and a parenting approach based on acceptance and commitment on early childhood behavior, social development, and attachment quality of children under six years of age
Method: The research was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population consisted of 60 volunteer mothers who were divided into two experimental groups and a control group. Parenting education based on acceptance and commitment and based on choice was taught in eight 90-minute sessions. For data analysis, multivariate analysis of covariance and Bonferroni post hoc test were used in SPSS version 27 software.
Findings: The F value in the multivariate analysis of covariance within group (independent variable of parenting approaches) on the post-test of the variables of early childhood behavior (P=0.000), attachment (P=0.000), and social development (P=0.000) is significant at the one percent error level (P<0.01)
Conclusion: The findings of this study emphasize the importance of the role of positive parent-child interactions and effective parenting methods in changing early childhood behavior, social development, and attachment quality in children, and both approaches are effective on early childhood behavior, social development, and attachment quality in children under six years of age.
